This past weekend, the MLB attendance is the highest since 2017. Their weekend attendance was at a staggering 1,518,016. Many believe this is due to the rule changes that was implemented this past off-season.
The pitch clock, bigger bases, and the shift restrictions have added much more action into the game of baseball. Shedding the time off of baseball games have added more "excitement", giving fans and new fans a more engaging atmosphere to the game.
With May almost over, the attendance is expected to keep growing. This is a huge positive for the game of baseball, in it's mission to grow into a more competitive sport. With the rule changes still having mixed emotions, it will be interesting to see where these numbers end up at the end of the 2023 season.
