15-Year MLB Veteran Announces his Retirement

Outfielder Michael Brantley officially announced his retirement. Brantley spent a total of 15 seasons at the major league level. Brantley was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers, but never made his MLB debut with them. Michael Brantley spent his 15 seasons with the Cleveland Guardians and the Houston Astros. He was mainly known for his time in Houston.

It's been a great honor to live out my dreams and wear a Major League uniform for the past 15 years. Representing the Houston Astros and the Cleveland Guardians has been an incredible privilege. My deepest thanks go out to my parents, whose support propelled me forward. Thank you to my wife and kids for their constant love and support throughout my career. In addition, I want to thank Larry Pardo, the scout whose belief in me in 2005 changed everything, giving me my first opportunity to play professional baseball with the Milwaukee Brewers."

Michael Brantley had a great career. He was a five-time all star. Also, Brantley had one silver slugger. Michael Brantley is also a World Series Champion in 2022 with the Houston Astros. Anyone would want those types of awards as a baseball player.


There's no denying the type of player Michael Brantley was, especially when you look at his stats. He played in 1,445 career games. Brantley slashed .298/.355/.439, with 129 HR's, 720 RBI's, 348 2B's, 25 3B's, 485 BB's, .794 OPS, and a 34.3 WAR.


Michael Brantley was also pretty good in the postseason. He made the players seven times in his career. In 62 games and 244 at-bats, he slashed .283/.348/.373, with 5 HR's, 27 RBI's, 7 2B's, 24 BB's, and a .721 OPS. Those are pretty solid numbers on the biggest stage.


Michael Brantley will always be knows as a great ball player. He always played the game right, with heart, hustle, loyalty, passion, and most importantly a leader. Michael Brantley had a great career that no one will ever forget the type of player he was.
