The Los Angeles Angels have claimed first baseman, Alfonso Rivas off waivers. The Cleveland Guardians recently DFA'd Alfonso Rivas which allowed the Los Angeles Angels to claim him to add to their depth at first base. MLB teams can never have enough depth, so anytime a team can add to their depth, it's good.

Alfonso Rivas made his MLB debut in 2021 with the Chicago Cubs. Rivas has only been in MLB for two years. Alfonso Rivas has made 167 career starts as an MLB player. In his career, Rivas is slashing .243/.324/.349, with 7 career home runs, 43 RBI's, 98 hits, 42 runs, 16 doubles, 3 triples, and a .673 OPS.

The Los Angeles Angels have been pretty active with adding depth to their team this off-season. It's unknown what kind of factor Alfonso Rivas will make with the Angels, but if he can perform well in spring training, he might be able to earn himself a spot on the major league roster.
