Angels Option LHP to Triple-A After Rough Start

The Los Angeles Angels have optioned left-handed pitcher Reid Detmers to Triple-A. It’s been a rough season for Detmers. He needed to get a fresh start and that’s why he is now optioned from the MLB to Triple-A.

Reid Detmers 2024 MLB stats:

12 starts | 3-6 record | 63.0 IP | 6.14 ERA | 70 strikeouts | 1.48 WHIP

There is no questioning the type of talent that Reid Detmers has. He has thrown a no-hitter at the major league level in his rookie season. Detmers just has to find himself again as a player and put it all back together.

From Reid Detmers:

“It (expletive) sucks,” Detmers said. “There’s no other way to put it. It sucks. I just gotta do better.”

“I’ve had some battles,” said Detmers, who paused as he fought back tears. “I always came back from them. No doubt in my mind.”

“I need to get the slider back,” Detmers said. “That’s the first thing. And obviously getting the mindset right, getting the confidence back. But the main thing is to get my out pitch. I haven’t really had it all year.”

The hope is that Reid Detmers time in the minor leagues this season is a good learning experience for him. Once Detmers is back up in the MLB he can focus on just throwing strikes and getting his job done. He has experience at the big league level, and that’s going to help Reid Detmers.
