Yet again, the Dodgers are losing significant pitching depth. This time it's coming in the form of Dustin May. The Dodgers announced yesterday that May will undergo right elbow surgery to repair the flexor tendon, which will take place on July 18.
Just a day after their ace, Clayton Kershaw, was placed on the IL, the news came about Dustin May. The Dodgers pitching staff has been decimated by injuries all season long. May last pitched on May 17 against the Twins, but there was optimism that he could be back in time for the second half of baseball.
During his 2023 season, May pitched to a 2.63 ERA with 34 strikeouts. Although the injuries have come quite recently for Dustin May, it finally looked like a healthy and dominate 2023 season. While this is a big blow to the Dodgers, they have proved that they can weather the storm. As the storm keeps brewing in Los Angeles, they'll have to keep sailing into October.
