The Houston Astros manager Joe Espada announced yesterday that their starting pitcher, Justin Verlander will begin the 2024 season on the injured list. Verlander still hasn't healed fully from his shoulder injury. It's unknown when Justin Verlander will be back, but it's known that he will miss opening day.

Joe Espada on Justin Verlander's injury:

"He's doing well, but we're running out of days and won't be able to build him up to start the regular season."

Joe Espada also noted that Verlander hasn't had any setbacks, he just needs more time to build up on the mound. The Astros don't want to rush anything.

In 2023, Justin Verlander started the season with the New York Mets. At the trade deadline, the Houston Astros traded for him in exchange for Drew Gilbert and Ryan Clifford.

Overall, Justin Verlander had a pretty solid season. He dealt with a few injuries last year, but he was able to pitch well. In total, Verlander started in 27 games, he posted a 13-8 record, 3.22 ERA, 144 SO, and a 1.133 WHIP.

The hope is that Justin Verlander will be back soon after the beginning of the season. Justin Verlander will need to build up his arm the rest of the Spring Training. Justin Verlander will continue to throw in bullpens.
