Astros Starting Pitching Takes Another Hit

The Houston Astros have placed starting pitcher Cristian Javier on the 15-day injured list. It was due to his forearm discomfort. As the corresponding move, the Astros recalled first baseman José Abreu from Triple-A. Abreu has been in Triple-A due to his struggles, but he’s now back in the MLB.

The Astros has had a lot of injuries when it comes to starting pitching so far this season. Cristian Javier joins Lance McCullers Jr., Luis Garcia, and José Urquidy as injured pitchers for the Astros this season.

So far this season Cristian Javier has been a very solid pitcher for the Astros. He’s been filling his position decently thus far.

Cristian Javier’s 2024 stats:

7 starts, 34.2 IP, 3-1 record, 3.89 ERA, 27 strikeouts, and a 1.41 WHIP.

There’s no question that the Astros as a whole have been off to a rough start. Although as of late they have been a much better team. The news of Cristian Javier going to the injured list is obviously not ideal for the Astros. The hope is that soon enough the Astros pitchers will be healed up.
