OAKLAND, CA: The Oakland Athletics announced yesterday that they have placed young right handed pitcher Joe Boyle on the 15-day IL with a lower back strain. Lefty Hogan Harris is the corresponding move from AAA Las Vegas.

Boyle, 24, has had a rough start to his 2024 campaign after winning a spot in the A’s rotation during Spring Training. The righty is currently pitching to a 2-5 record while posting a 7.16 ERA across 27.2 innings pitched.

Boyle did show promise last season during his small sample size. Across 16.0 innings pitched, he compiled a 1.69 ERA, while posting a 2-0 record.

There is no doubt that Boyle has showed promise as a starter in Major League Baseball. The Athletics have little to no expectations in 2024, but have impressed thus far. Boyle will get his innings, once he gets back from the IL.
