Blue Jays RHP Set to Undergo Season Ending Surgery

The Toronto Blue Jays announced yesterday that right-handed pitcher Alek Manoah will undergo season ending UCL surgery. The surgery will be done on June 17th. Manager John Schneider stated that the exact procedure is TBD as of right now. The unfortunate thing is that either way his season is over.

It’s been a really rough past year and now into this year for Alek Manoah. From being in the MLB, to getting sent down to rookie ball due to struggles at the big league level. Now, Manoah was back in the MLB but he will be out for a very long time. Injures are the worst past about baseball.

Alek Manoah has worked so hard to get back to where he used to be. A few years ago Manoah was a potential Cy Young candidate. For about a year it has been a tough go around for Manoah. He was pitching really solid as he made his way back to the bigs, he will have to start all over again.

Alek Manoah’s 2024 stats:

5 starts | 1-2 record | 24.1 IP | 3.70 ERA | 26 strikeouts | 1.03 WHIP

The Blue Jays will have a few options to replace Alek Manoah in the rotation. They could look to their farm system, or they could look at the trade options. The trade deadline is quickly approaching as it is on July 30th.

Either way the Blue Jays will have to find a solid replacement for Alek Manoah. He was pitching very decent for the Blue Jays. Pitching is hard to come by in the MLB and losing a guy like Alek Manoah is really hard.
