Braves Lose Another Pitcher Due to Injury

The Atlanta Braves have placed starting pitcher Reynaldo López on the 15-day injured list. He has eight shoulder inflammation. The club selected INF Cavan Biggio for the major league roster. He has been in Triple-A.

Reynaldo López made his start on Tuesday like he was supposed to. After just one inning pitched for López, he was unfortunately removed from the game. His velocity was down, so the Braves decided it was best for him to be removed.

The Braves don’t expect Reynaldo López to have a long IL stint. All of his MRI’s came back back clean. Here is what Braves manager Brian Snitker had to say:

“The MRI came back clean. He has inflammation and hopefully, it will calm down.”

The Braves have dealt with injuries all season long. Players such as Ronald Acuña Jr., Spencer Strider, Michael Harris ||, Ozzie Albies, Sean Murphy, and now Reynaldo López have all spent some time on the injured list. It’s been a rough season with injuries for the Braves.

Reynaldo López was a All-Star this year in his first full season as a starting pitcher. He’s been dominant all season long. In 24 starts, López has pitched 128.2 innings. He has an 8-5 record, 2.03 ERA, 137 strikeouts, and a 1.15 WHIP.

The Braves are in a really tight battle with the Mets for the final Wild Card spot. This is the worst time the Braves could have had another injury. The Braves will look to just keep on staying in the race for the Wild Card spot like they have been all season long.
