The Chicago Cubs and right-handed relief pitcher, Hector Neris are in agreement on a contract. The contract is worth one-year, $9 million. The deal includes a option for 2025. The $9 million team option converts to a player option at 60 games. Total max with incentives is $23.25. Per, Jeff Passan.

Hector Neris has really turned himself into a top relief pitcher in all of baseball. He started his career in Philadelphia and played with them for eight years. Neris spent the last two seasons with Houston. Hector Neris is a very reliable pitcher.

The key for Hector Neris to succeed is to not put him in as a closer. Hector Neris is at his best when he is a 7th or 8th inning reliever. He's shown that in Philly and Houston. Hector Neris had one of his best seasons in 2023. In 71 appearances, he posted a 6-3 record, 68.1 IP, 1.71 ERA, 77 SO, and a 1.054 WHIP.

Hector Neris has gotten some postseason experience the past few seasons, and he's succeeded in the postseason. This move for the Chicago Cubs is a pretty good move. They're a team who's looking to make the postseason, and Hector Neris is a great addition to the Cubs bullpen.
