The 55-53 Chicago Cubs announce they've placed SP Marcus Stroman on the 15 day-IL due to right hip inflammation. José Cuas took Stroman's spot on the 26-man roster. This is a big hit to the red hot Chicago Cubs.
Marcus Stroman's last few starts haven't been great. Although, Stroman is having a pretty good year. In 23 starts, 128.2 IP, Stroman has a 10-8 record, 3.85 ERA, 111 SO, and a 1.24 WHIP. The Cubs are red hot right now, so this is the last thing the Cubs needed.
With the Chicago Cubs fighting for a playoff spot as they sit in 3rd place in the NL Central just 3 games back from first place, and they're just 2.5 games out of a wild card spot, this is bad news to their pitching staff. The Chicago Cubs will need their other pitchers to step it up as they will definitely miss Marcus Stroman.
