The Arizona Diamondbacks made a trip to the World Series last season and proved that their young studded team had what it took to reach the Fall Classic. Falling short, this young club wanted to make some additions this offseason. Their first big addition came yesterday when they traded for Mariners' Eugenio Suarez, sending reliever Carlos Vargas and catcher Seby Zavala to Seattle. Suarez will slide into Arizona's lineup as their everyday third baseman.
Suarez was acquired from the Reds by the Mariners just two seasons ago. Suarez provided a bit of pop for the Mariners as well as a good glove at the hot corner. Suarez slashed .232/.323/.391 with 22 home runs and 96 RBI in 2023.
Eugenio Suarez is a great fit for this Arizona club. They already have the young talent, adding a veteran like Suarez into this gives them a good mix of talent. Suarez gives the Diamondbacks some stability as well as a new veteran voice to follow. Acquiring Eugenio Suarez is just the first move for this D-Backs team, but certainly won't be the last.
