The Detroit Tigers agreed to a 2 year, $24 million contract with starting pitcher Kenta Maeda. The Tigers have been searching for starting pitching for a few years, and they added to it with this signing. Kenta Maeda, 34-years-old, will beef up the Tigers week starting rotation.

Kenta Maeda's 2023 season was up and down. Although, Maeda has past history of being a good starting pitcher in the MLB. In 2023, Maeda pitched in 21 games and 104.1 IP. Kenta Maeda posted a 6-8 record, 4.23 ERA, 117 SO, and a 1.17 WHIP.

Kenta Maeda made his MLB debut in 2016 with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Maeda has pitched for just two teams prior, the Dodgers and Twins. Across Maeda's seven seasons in the MLB, he has a 3.92 ERA in his career.

This most likely won't be the last move the Tigers make. This is a solid start by adding Kenta Maeda to their rotation. If the Tigers can make at least two more moves with their rotation, they could have a good rotation going into the 2024 season.
