The Los Angeles Dodgers have designated left handed pitcher James Paxton for assignment. In addition to that, the club selected the contract of right handed pitcher River Ryan.
The Dodgers and James Paxton agreed on a contract this past winter in free agency. The deal was for just one year for $7 million.
This was a pretty surprising move to many people in baseball. The Dodgers have a pretty banged up rotation. Tyler Glasnow and Yoshinobu Yamamoto are both on the injured list. The Dodgers will be getting Clayton Kershaw back soon.
James Paxton has been one of the healthiest Dodgers pitcher this season. He has made every start when it was his turn. In 18 starts, Paxton has an 8-2 record, 4.43 ERA, 64 SO, and a 1.46 WHIP.
The Dodgers must have figured they will be getting pretty healthy shortly. James Paxton will now be open to a team who is looking for pitching help. Paxton might not be on the free agent market long.
