The Detroit Tigers have traded infielder Andre Lipcius to the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for cash considerations. Per, the Dodgers on X. Andre Lipcius was designated for assignment by the Tigers last week. To make a roster spot for Lipcius, the Dodgers transferred Clayton Kershaw to the 60-day IL.
Andre Lipcius is 25-years-old. He's kind of a utility man in the infield. Lipcius can play first base, second base, and third base. He plays all three of those positions at a solid level, and Lipcius is also a pretty solid player on the offensive side of the game.
Last year, Andre Lipcius made his major league debut. It's a small sample size, but Lipcius impressed a lot of people in his time in MLB last year. In 35 at-bats, Lipcius slashed .286/.342/.400, with 1 HR, 4 RBI's, and a .742 OPS.
This move by the Dodgers will give them depth and flexibility. They didn't really give up anything to get Andre Lipcius. The Dodgers will likely use him the rest of the Spring Training games to get a good look at Andre Lipcius.
