The 2024 MLB awards wrapped up last night as the most valuable player was announced for both leagues. The National League MVP is Los Angeles Dodgers DH Shohei Ohtani. This is Ohtani’s third MVP of his career.
Shohei Ohtani has now won the MVP in both American and National league. Before being with the Dodgers, Ohtani was with the Angels. He won the award in 2021 and 2023, now, he wins it in 2024. That’s 3 times in 4 years.
It was a unanimous decision to make Shohei Ohtani the MVP. He received 30 out of 30 first place votes. Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor came in second place. Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte came in third place.
In 636 regular season at-bats (159 games), Shohei Ohtani slashed .310/.390/.646, 54 HR, 130 RBI, and a 1.036 OPS.
Shohei Ohtani achieved so many great things in his first year with the Dodgers. He’s a World Series Champion and won an MVP in his first season with the team. That’s a pretty good start to his long Dodgers career.
