Right-handed pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto has been placed on the 15-day IL due to a strained rotator cuff. It is not expected to be a season-ending injury. This is very unfortunate news for the Dodgers and Yamamoto. It his first injury in his young MLB career.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto is a rookie. This is his first season as a major league pitcher. He has been in Japan for many years. This past off-season, Yoshinobu Yamamoto agreed to a deal with the Dodgers for 12-years and $325 million.
It was a rough start to Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s career. He began the season in Seoul, South Korea when the Dodgers kicked the 2024 season off against the Padres. As of late, things have gone better for Yamamoto. Now, he will be out for a bit.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s 2024 stats:
14 starts | 74.0 IP | 6-2 record | 2.92 ERA | 84 SO | 1.07 WHIP
The Dodgers will now be without one of their top starting pitchers for quite a bit. There’s no question the Dodgers are a top team in baseball, but without Yoshinobu Yamamoto, their pitching staff is certainly going to take a huge hit.
