Giants Acquire Right-Handed Pitcher from Blue Jays

The San Francisco Giants have acquired right-handed pitcher Mitch White from the Toronto Blue Jays. The Giants sent cash considerations to the Blue Jays to get White. Pitcher Alex Cobb was placed on the 60-day injured list to clear a roster spot on the Giants roster. The Blue Jays DFA’d Mitch White about two weeks ago and now they found a trade partner.

Mitch White is a name that a lot of people might be familiar with. He’s been in the MLB for a bit, this is his 5th season at the highest level. The Giants will be White’s 3rd different team. From 2020-2022 Mitch White pitched for the Los Angeles Dodgers and from the end of 2022-2024 White pitched for the Toronto Blue Jays.

With this move, the Giants will be able to use Mitch White as a starter or a reliever. They have the option with him. In total, Mitch White has appeared in 62 MLB games, he has a 4-11 record, 4.99 ERA, 148 strikeouts, and a 1.389 WHIP.

The Giants are getting a nice piece to add to their depth. Mitch White doesn’t have that superstar stuff, but he will certainly eat up some innings for any team that he is on. It’ll be interesting to see how the Giants use Mitch White once he arrives in San Francisco with his new team.
