The San Francisco Giants have began their search for a new manager after the firing of former manager, Gabe Kapler. During their search, they interviewed current assistant coach, Alyssa Nakken. She's believed to be the first woman to become an official candidate for an MLB club's top uniformed job, per Andrew Baggarly.
Alyssa Nakken already made a bit of history as she was the first woman to be named as a big league coach back in 2020. Although her hiring came back in 2020, Nakken has been with the Giants organization in various roles for nearly a decade.
Nakken joins a few Giants staff to interview for the position of manager and is believed to have a serious chance on being accepted for the position. Nakken has already been a trailblazer in baseball, joining the likes of Marlins' Kim Ng and Yankees' Rachael Balkovec.
