The San Francisco Giants have placed right-handed pitcher Jordan Hicks on the 15-day injured list. He has right shoulder inflammation. As the corresponding move, RHP Austin Warren was recalled from Triple-A Sacremento.

Jordan Hicks and the Giants agreed to a four-year, $44 million contract this past off-season. This is the first season that Hicks is a full time starting pitcher. He’s been a relief pitcher all of his previous years in the majors.

It was a good start to Jordan Hicks’s starting pitching run. Through the first few months of the season, Hicks was giving the Giants great starts every time he took the mound. As of late it’s been a rough few weeks for Jordan Hicks as a starter.

Overall it has been a good first season as a starter. Jordan Hicks has given the Giants exactly what they needed. In 28 starts, Hicks has pitched 108.1 innings. He has a 4-7 record, 3.90 ERA, 95 strikeouts, and a 1.42 WHIP.

The Giants will definitely miss Jordan Hicks in their rotation. They will have to hope everyone steps up in the time that Hicks misses. He’s been an important pitcher all season long, so any sort of time that Jordan Hicks misses, it’s not good for the Giants.
