The San Francisco Giants have optioned closer Camilo Doval to Triple-A. Landen Roupp was called up to the MLB to take the roster spot for Doval.
Camilo Doval was once an All-Star. No one really knows what has happened to Doval since 2023, which is when he was an All-Star. It has been a surprising season for Doval, but everyone has bad seasons.
It has obviously been a huge difference in seasons for Camilo Doval.
2023 stats: 69 appearances | 67.2 IP | 39 saves | 87 SO | 2.93 ERA | 1.14 WHIP
2024 stats: 46 appearances | 44 IP | 22 saves | 56 SO | 4.70 ERA | 1.61 WHIP
There’s no questioning the talent that Camilo Doval has. He has so much potential for a closer. Doval was a top 3-5 closer in 2023. No one really knows what has happened to him this season, it could just be a bad season for Doval.
The hope for the Giants and Camilo Doval is that he can find himself in Triple-A and can comeback up to the MLB much better.
