Giants Starter Tosses 18th No-Hitter in Franchise History

San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Blake Snell threw a no-hitter in yesterday’s game against the Cincinnati Reds.

Before yesterday, Blake Snell has never even pitched into the ninth inning in a game. He never even completed 8 full innings before. Snell’s first ever complete game in the MLB is a no-hitter. That’s pretty remarkable for Blake Snell.

Blake Snell completed his first ever no-hitter on 114 pitches. Here was his official line from it:

9 IP | 0 H | 0 ER | 3 BB | 11 SO

Last night hasn’t been Blake Snell’s only good start recently, he has been absolutely dialed in. Almost nobody can touch him when he’s on the mound as of late. Snell has a 0.55 ERA in his last 5 starts.

There has now been 18 no-hitters thrown in the history of the Giants franchise, including Blake Snell. They’ve been a franchise since 1883.

Throwing a no-hitter is so hard in todays game of baseball. The hitters are so good at doing anything nowadays. Blake Snell was firing on all cylinders yesterday and he got the job done and threw a no-hitter.
