Joey Votto Turns Back the Clock in His Return

The Reds announced early yesterday that they have activated Joey Votto from the 60-day IL, marking his first game back since August of 2022. Although he is day-to-day, the 39-year old did not disappoint in his 2023 debut.

Votto went an impressive 2-3, 3 RBI, BB in his return. Those three RBI came via a home run and a 2-run single that gave the Reds the lead. Joey Votto made fans feel like it was 2007 all over again when Votto first entered the league as the Reds next franchise player.

Votto is currently in the last year of his $251.5 million, 12-year contract with the club. Joey embodies what it means to be a Red and has been there through it all.

It's a refreshing sight to see the one mainstay of this Cincinnati ball club, through all the trials and tribulations, still winning games for one of the oldest franchises in this great sport. Votto was a key piece in last night's ninth straight win in route to taking over first place in the NL Central.
