Per Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, the Mariners have acquired INF Jorge Polanco from the Twins in exchange for RHP Anthony DeSclafani, RHP Justin Topa, minor leaguers OF Gabriel Gonzalez and RHP Darren Bowen and cash considerations.

Jorge Polanco headlines the deal as the second baseman spent the last ten seasons in Minnesota. The 30-year old has been a mainstay in Minnesota and has been a major contributor to the club. In his ten seasons, Polanco has slashed .269/.334/.446 with 112 home runs.

Polanco has seen a lot of success with the Twins, but none other than his 2019 season. His 2019 season saw him slash .295/.356/.485 with 22 home runs, capping off the season as an all-star and finishing 13th in AL MVP voting. His bat and fielding presence will be a huge addition to the Mariners.

Heading back to the Twins are RHP Anthony DeSclafani, RHP Justin Topa, minor leaguers OF Gabriel Gonzalez and RHP Darren Bowen and cash considerations.

DeSclafani and Topa have spent time in the majors. DeSclafani was traded to the Mariners earlier this offseason and spent his 2023 with San Francisco. He pitched to a 4.88 ERA and will add to the depth of the Twins rotation.

Justin Topa seen a lot of success in his only year with Seattle last season. Pitching to a 2.61 ERA across 69.0 innings, Topa has the chance to make an immediate impact on the Twins rotation that is already forming together the way they want.

Gabriel Gonzalez is looked at as the prize return for the Twins. The 20-year old outfielder was ranked 5th in the Mariners prospect rankings and is seen to have a lot of upside. Across A and High-A, Gonzalez slashed .298/.361/.476 with 18 home runs and even posted an .837 OPS.

The last player involved in the deal is RHP Darren Bowen. The 22-year old pitched to a 3.88 ERA across 55.2 innings in A ball. This was his first season in the minors as he was selected in the 13th round of the 2022 MLB Draft.

The Mariners finally get their second baseman. Jorge Polanco has a lot of upside and fits nicely as a veteran in a young clubhouse. Polanco's defense is just as impressive as hit bat.

The Twins are getting a haul for Jorge Polanco. All four players heading back to Minnesota have a real chance of being big players for the Twins now and for their future.
