The Miami Marlins announced Friday night’s win over the Blue Jays that manager Skip Schumaker would return home to attend to a family health matter. Bench coach Luis Urueta will be the interim manager for the final two games of the season. Everyone figured the two sides have parted ways.

Yesterday, the Marlins made it official. The club and Skip Schumaker have mutually agreed to part ways. Per, ESPN’s Jeff Passan. Schumaker‘s tenure with the Marlins has concluded after just two seasons.

In addition to the two sides parting ways, the Marlins have also agreed to void the ’25 option as a result, giving Skip Schumaker the chance to pursue other opportunities after this season. That is a great thing by the Marlins to do that.

Skip Schumaker won the Manager of the Year award last season. Heather lead the Marlins to a playoff berth but was then swept by the Philadelphia Phillies in the Wild Card round of the playoffs.

There’s no question that Skip Schumaker is a very good manager. He did some really good things with the Marlins. The two sides just figured it was time to part ways and Schumaker will have the opportunity to manager somewhere else next season.
