New York Mets president of baseball operations, David Stearns, announced today that their ace, Kodai Senga will begin the 2024 season on the injured list. Senga has a mild strain of his posterior capsule in his shoulder.
Kodai Senga quickly turned into the Mets ace after just one season in the MLB. Senga came over to the MLB last year from Japan. He signed a five-year deal with the Mets.
In his rookie year in 2023, Kodai Senga finished second in NL Rookie of the Year voting. In 29 starts, 166.1 IP, Senga posted a 12-7 record, 2.98 ERA, 202 SO, and a 1.22 WHIP.
The Mets aren't expected to make a move for another starting pitcher before opening day begins, according to David Stearns.
