New York Mets manager Carlos Mendoza announced that left handed pitcher Brooks Raley will undergo season-ending surgery. As of right now, it’s still to be determined if it’s Tommy John or the brace surgery.

Carlos Mendoza on the news:

“It's unfortunate because he gave everything he had.”

Over the course of his Mets career, Brooks Raley has been everything and more for them. He has certainly gave it his all. Raley will be out for the rest of this season and will likely miss about half of 2025. Brooks Raley has been apart of the Mets since 2023.

This season has been a very weird one for Brooks Raley. He has barely pitched this year, but when he has, he was lights out. In 8 appearances, Raley has a 1-0 record, 9 strikeouts, 0.00 ERA, and a 0.71 WHIP.

Brooks Raley was very impressive last year with the Mets as well. In 66 appearances in 2023, he posted a 1-2 record. 61 strikeouts, 2.80 ERA, and a 1.26 WHIP.

There’s no question that the Mets are already in trouble. They just lost their best left handed reliever for the rest of the season with Brooks Raley. The Mets currently sit at a record of 21-27 and in fourth place in the NL East. The season is still early, but losing a pitcher like Brooks Raley is certainly going to be tough for the Mets.
