MIAMI, FL: The Washington Nationals announced that they have placed veteran 1B/OF Joey Gallo on the 10-day IL with a AC sprain in his left shoulder. Youngster Alex Call was the corresponding move for Gallo’s placement.
Joey Gallo has had a whirlwind of a career since his departure from the Texas Rangers. After his quick two-year stint in New York (AL), Gallo has called Los Angeles (NL), Minnesota, and now Washington home. With no real stability, Gallo is clawing at a chance for playing time.
2024 has been the same story for Gallo, as the veteran is slashing .122/.286/.311 with 3 home runs. Gallo has also managed to strikeout 43 times across 74 AB.
The story of Joey Gallo has not been a great one for baseball fans. Gallo has gone from one of the game’s top hitters to now being a home run or strikeout player, striking out more times than not. Gallo should be back with the big league club shortly after dealing with his AC sprain.
