Yesterday, three prospects made their MLB debuts. All three reside in the state of New York, separated by a borough. Another thing they have in common is that their teams have had disappointing seasons. The Yankees sitting at 66-69 and the Mets sitting at 62-73.

All three rookies left an impact for their respective teams and provided a much needed spark to the lineup. For the Yankees, Jasson Dominguez homered in his first AB and drove in two runs. Austin Wells collected his first MLB hit, which was a single to right field.

For the Mets, Ronny Mauricio collected his first MLB hit, a double to right field, as well as collecting another hit, finishing 2-3 on the night.

This season, the state of New York has seen something that they are not used to. Two teams who were destined to compete for a World Series whose season got derailed earlier than expected. With both teams likely soon to be out of playoff contention, they looked to the youngsters to provide some fresh faces. Both the Yankees and the Mets got that in their debuts.
