The No. 1 pick in all of baseball, SP Paul Skenes will not pitch again this year. Paul Skenes was selected number one overall by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the most recent MLB draft.

The Pirates placed Paul Skenes on the Development List and that's why the RHP, Paul Skiens will not pitch again this year.

This year in the minor leagues, Paul Skenes pitched in 5 games, his stats were, 6.2 IP, 10 SO, 5.40 ERA, and a 1.05 WHIP.

The Pirates put out a statement on this decision:

We're excited and encouraged by the positive things Paul has been able to accomplish in his short time in the Pirates organization. He's checked all of the boxes we aimed for him to check during the 2023 season.
The goal now is to focus on a complete off-season in preparation for his first full professional year in 2024.

Paul Skenes future is bright. Skenes is just 21-years-old. Paul Skenes will be a big part of the Pirates future, he'll certainly be back pitching next year, doing what everyone knows what Paul Skenes can do.
