The San Diego Padres have officially been eliminated from the 2023 playoffs. With the Miami Marlins 4-3 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates yesterday, that resulted in the Padres getting eliminated from the playoffs.

Coming into the 2023 MLB season, the Padres had the third highest payroll in all of baseball with a payroll of $253M. The Padres had a lot of expectations coming into the season, rightfully so.

In the off-season, the Padres added some big name players. Including, SS Xander Bogaerts. They also had Fernando Tatis Jr. coming back from suspension. The Padres also made some other moves that they expected to help them this season.

Now that the San Diego Padres are officially eliminated from the playoffs, they will shift their focus to the 2024 season. Hopefully for the Padres and the Padres fans, they will perform much better next year.
