The San Diego Padres announced yesterday, that starting pitcher Yu Darvish has been shut down for the season after recent tests revealed a bone spur in his elbow, per AJ Cassavell of MLB.com
The 37-year old is now finished with his 11th season in the big leagues, compiling a 4.56 ERA along with 141 strikeouts in 136.1 innings pitched. Darvish finishes his first year of a new six-year deal a bit earlier than expected.
Darvish has been one of the most reliable pitchers of the last decade and has made quite the name for himself since coming over from Japan. The soon to be 40-year old is gearing up for 2024.
