San Diego Padres manager Mike Shildt told reporters that shortstop Ha-Seong Kim’s season is over. Kim has been on the injured list for over a month due to inflammation in his shoulder. Shildt also revealed that Ha-Seong Kim may end up getting surgery to repair the labrum in his shoulder in the off-season.
This injury is a huge blow to the Padres team and lineup. The Padres have already locked up a playoff spot, and now they will be without one of their key players. Even if the Padres do wind up making it to the World Series, Ha-Seong Kim won’t be available to play at all.
This is Ha-Seong Kim’s fourth season in the MLB. He’s never dealt with an injury like this. Kim has been a good player ever since he’s entered the league. This year in 121 games, Kim slashed .233/.330/.370, 11 HR, 47 RBI, 22 SB, and a .700 OPS.
The Padres have been a great team the past few months. It’s earned them a Wild Card spot. The Padres will now look to replace Ha-Seong Kim quickly as their first playoff game will be on Tuesday.
