Padres Starter Throws Second No-Hitter of 2024

San Diego Padres starting pitcher Dylan Cease threw a no-hitter yesterday against the Washington Nationals. It’s just the second time a Padres pitcher has thrown a no-hitter in the history of the Padres. The first one was current Padres pitcher Joe Musgrove.

The Padres acquired Dylan Cease this past off-season from the White Sox. They sent Drew Thorpe, Jairo Iriarte, Steven Wilson, and Samuel Zavala to the White Sox for Cease. It has definitely paid off for the Padres.

The start for Dylan Cease yesterday hasn’t been the only good one recently. Cease has been nearly unstoppable in his last 3 starts. He’s pitched 22 innings, just 2 hits allowed, 0 ER, and 30 strikeouts.

From the first pitch of the game, to the last, Dylan Cease looked like he could throw a no-hitter. That’s exactly what he did. Cease was rolling through the game like it was nothing. Here is his official line from the no-hitter in Washington:

9 IP 0 H

0 ER

3 BB

9 SO

Throwing a no-hitter in baseball is very rare. Dylan Cease made it look like it was easy yesterday. Seeing history like this happen in baseball is awesome for all baseball fans.
