Padres Starter to Hit the IL

The Padres announced yesterday that they are placing SP Yu Darvish on the 15-day IL with elbow inflammation. This move comes at a cost as they are struggling to stay afloat in the NL wildcard race.

Darvish is sporting an 8-10 record along with a 4.56 ERA with 141 strikeouts. The Padres have been relying on their veteran pitching staff to guide them through this rough patch and it has not worked out. Darvish is compiling his second worst ERA in his 11-year career, his worst being 2018 (4.95).

The San Diego Padres 2023 season has not gone to planned. Sitting 8.0 games back of a wildcard spot, the club is seemingly looking forward to 2024.
