Fernando Tatis Jr. actually has multiple injuries. The first one is from a hit by pitch in the elbow. The other injury was a quad injury. Tatis was considered day-to-day. It was best for him just to go on the injured list.

Padres manager Mike Shildt said that it will take some time for Tatis to heal up. There has been multiple reports that have stated that there’s a chance Fernando Tatis Jr. could be out of action through the All-Star break, which is July 15th - July 18th.
