Pete Alonso Well Ahead of Schedule, Returns From IL

Pete Alonso via Jim McIsaac

Just 12 days ago, the Mets placed 1B Pete Alonso on the IL with a wrist injury. Many expected him to return around early July, instead, the power hitting 1B was activated yesterday.

The Mets fell to the Cardinals by a score of 8-7. Alonso went 0-4 with 3 Ks in his early return. Although he did not contribute to their offense, the Mets are more than estatic to be able to pencil in Alonso in their lineup card everyday.

The Mets sit at 33-38 in 4th place in the NL East and need a spark in a very bad way. With one of their top producers, if not the top, it could be exactly what the Mets need to turn things around.
