Phillies-Angels Make Early Offseason Trade

The Philadelphia Phillies and the Los Angeles Angels are in agreement on a trade that will send INF/OF Scott Kingery to the Angels in exchange for cash considerations. Per, both teams announcements.

It wasn’t ever supposed to end like this for Scott Kingery and the Phillies. Kingery made his MLB debut back in 2018 with the Phillies. He was given a 6-year, $24 million contract by the team. Even though Kingery never got much playing time in the big leagues, he was still a fan favorite in Philly.

Scott Kingery signed his extension before his major league debut that took place in 2018. He had a very promising start to the season in 2019, but in the second half he slowed down due to injuries. Kingery was DFA’d in 2021 but then was picked back up by the Phillies.

Here is Scott Kingery’s final MLB stats with the Phillies:

325 G | .229/.280/.387 | 30 HR | 96 RBI | 320 SO | .667 OPS

The Angels will be getting a player who can play all around the diamond with a solid bat. Scott Kingery is definitely a solid player who can play good in the majors if given the opportunity by a team. Hopefully for Kingery he can get good playing time with the Angels.
