Phillies Shortstop to Miss Multiple Weeks Due to Injury

The Philadelphia Phillies have placed shortstop Trea Turner on the 10-day injured list due to a left hamstring strain. To fill Turner’s spot on the 26-man roster, the club recalled INF Kody Clemens from Lehigh Valley (Triple-A.)

The injury for Trea Turner occurred in a 4-3 Phillies victory over the San Francisco Giants on Friday, May 3rd. The way the injury happened is, Trea Turner scored from second base on a passed ball but when he slid into home plate is when the injury happened.

Trea Turner spoke to media yesterday after he received the news that he will be out.

“Anything before six weeks would be a win. That’s what they tell me as of right now, but with injuries in general I think it’s tough to put a timeline on that.”

Trea Turner was off to an amazing start to the 2024 season. In 33 games, Turner has slashed .343/.392/.460, with 2 HR’s, 9 RBI’s, and a .852 OPS. He was also playing at a high level on defense.

This season was one of the best starts to a season Trea Turner has had in a while. It’s certainly been better than last season for Turner. The Phillies offense has been electric, but now with Trea Turner out for a bit, the rest of the lineup will have to produce even more than they have.
