Free-agent reliever Aroldis Chapman in agreement with the Pittsburgh Pirates, according to Robert Murray of FanSided. It is a one-year, $10.5 million deal. The deal was first reported by Francys Romero, who is a BBWAA member.

The Pirates owner, Robert Nutting, has put his team in a solid position. He's promised that he would put the Pirates in position to compete in 2024, and he continues that with signing Aroldis Chapman. It's good to see the Pirates spending money.

Aroldis Chapman has spent 14 seasons at the MLB level. Chapman first started the 2023 season with the Kansas City Royals, then, he was traded to the World Series Champions, Texas Rangers. In 2023, Chapman appeared in 61 games, posting a 6-5 record, 3.09 ERA, 103 SO, and a 1.251 WHIP.

It's going to be interesting to see how the Pittsburgh Pirates perform this upcoming year. They have a mix of young talent and some veteran pieces. Aroldis Chapman will add a hard throwing lefty to the Pirates bullpen.
