Right-handed pitcher Jared Jones has been placed on the 15-day IL by the Pittsburgh Pirates. Jones has a right lat strain. As a corresponding move, Joshua Palacios was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis.
In his last start, Jared Jones was dealing through 5 innings pitched. Then, he was taken out with just 78 pitches. It was even more of a question why that happened due to the fact that his last time before that he skipped his start so that led to the question of if Jones is injured.
Jared Jones is a rookie this season. He is just 22-years-old. He was having an incredible first year in the big leagues. In 16 starts, Jones pitched 91.0 IP. He also posted a 5-6 record, 3.56 ERA, 98 SO, and a 1.11 WHIP.
The Pirates have a great core of young pitchers, Jared Jones, Paul Skenes, and Mitch Keller. It’s a blow whenever one of your starters go down with injury. Especially a pitcher like Jared Jones who is so good. It’s unknown how much time Jared Jones will miss, but it will definitely be at least a few starts.
