The Pittsburgh Pirates have recalled catcher Henry Davis to the MLB. Per, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com. Davis has already made his MLB debut. The Pirates demoted him to Triple-A last month after a miserable start in 2024. Davis is just 24-years-old and has plenty of time to improve.
The Pittsburgh Pirates had the first overall pick in 2023. With that pick, they selected Henry Davis. He made his MLB debut last season.
Henry Davis started the season in the MLB. It was very unlike himself to get off to a start like he did. In a total of 68 at-bats, Davis slashed .162/.280/.206, with 0 HR’s, 4 RBI’s, 0 SB’s, and a .486 OPS.
The Pirates decided it was best for Davis to be demoted to Triple-A to try to find his swing again. Henry Davis had 81 at-bats in Triple-A this year, he slashed .296/.436/.642, with 7 HR’s, 17 RBI’s, 1 SB, and a 1.078 OPS.
The difference between the MLB and Triple-A stats are insane for Henry Davis. It looks like Davis was able to find his swing again and hopefully he can continue it in the bigs. All Henry Davis might’ve needed was some time, and that’s what the Pirates gave him.
