Rangers Add to Pitching Staff, But Lose Big Piece

The 2023 Texas Rangers are going all in at this year's trade deadline. They have added future hall of famer, Max Scherzer, from the Mets as well as Jordan Montgomery from the Cardinals. However, they lost a big piece of their rotation to the 15-day IL, that being Nathan Eovaldi.

The Texas Rangers announced yesterday that Nathan Eovaldi will head to the 15-day IL with a right forearm strain. The 33-year old is having a breakout season with the Rangers as he only sits behind Blake Snell of the Padres and Gerrit Cole of the Yankees in ERA. Eovaldi is sporting a 2.69 ERA along with 111 Ks in 123.2 innings pitched.

As stated, the Rangers have made moves to bolster the pitching staff. It could not have came at a better time with the Eovaldi news. The Rangers are one of the top teams in baseball and have gone into full win-now mode. Eovaldi should be back during the 2023 season.
