Rangers Lineup Takes a hit, Starting Third Baseman Lands on the IL

Texas Rangers received awful news regarding third baseman Josh Jung. Manager of the Rangers Bruce Bochy announced that Jung has fractured his wrist after behind hit in yesterday's game. Josh Jung left the game in the 9th inning. The Rangers won the World Series last year and Josh Jung was a big reason for that.

Josh Jung fractured his thumb last year and now this year it's a fractured wrist for him. It's very unfortunate for the Rangers and Josh Jung, he can't really catch a break. Jung was really good last year and had a good start to the season this year, but with the injury news he will be out for a little while.

Bruce Bochy on the injury news of Josh Jung:

“He’ll be back. I talked to him briefly, you know this hurts. I feel for the kid because he’s had to deal with so much on injuries. It’s gonna be a little while, but he’ll be back.”

Teammate Marcus Semien spoke after the Rangers game regarding Josh Jung:

"He's learned how to come back from injures so he's just gonna have to repeat what he did last year." ... "He came back and helped us win a World Series, we just have to stay positive. Extremely tough luck for him."

This is obviously going to be a tough loss for the Rangers. Josh Jung brings a lot to the Rangers. This year in 4 games (17 at-bats), Jung has slashed .412/.474/.941, with 2 HR's, 6 RBI's, 2 BB's, and a 1.415 OPS. Josh Jung was having an excellent start to 2024.

The Rangers lineup definitely takes a huge hit with losing Josh Jung. Now it's time for the Rangers lineup to step up for the time Josh Jung misses. There's no exact timeline for how long Jung will miss, but anytime a player fractures something it's going to be quite a bit.
