The Tampa Bay Rays that outfielder Josh Lowe has been placed on the 10-day injured list due to a right oblique strain, retroactive to May 23rd. As the corresponding move, the ball club activated right handed pitcher Chris Devenski from the 15-day IL.
The Rays and Josh Lowe noticed this all on Wednesday. He left the Rays game early as what was described at the time as a right side strain. Although, Lowe had a follow-up MRI and didn’t reveal anything out of the ordinary.
Josh Lowe’s 2024 season has been filled with injuries. Many in the Rays organization isn’t surprised by the move to place him on the IL. They want to give Lowe time to heal up. He has already missed over a month due to a different injury.
The 2024 season has been a season to forgot for Josh Lowe. He has had many things go wrong for him that isn’t his fault. Lowe has 50 at-bats this season. He has hit 2 home runs along with 3 RBI’s. Also, Josh Lowe has a .736 OPS.
There’s no question that the Rays are a much better team with Josh Lowe on the field. There’s one bright side to this, and it’s the fact that Lowe’s injuries are happening now and not in the future or second half of the season. Josh Lowe can now take this time to heal up.
