Red Sox, 23-Year-Old OF Agree to an 8-Year Contract Extension

The Boston Red Sox and center fielder Ceddanne Rafaela are in agreement on an 8-year, $50 million contract extension. That equals out to be $6.5 million a year. According to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com The Red Sox lock up their center fielder for the long term.


The Red Sox Chief Baseball Officer Craig Breslow has been getting it done as of late when it comes to extending their young players. Earlier in the off-season the Red Sox extended SP Bryan Bello to a 6-year deal. Now, they extend their CF Ceddanne Rafaela for eight years. Both super young players.


Ceddanne Rafaela is the Red Sox No. 4 prospect. Rafaela is MLB's No. 76 prospect. Ceddanne Rafaela made his MLB debut last season. Now this year, he's been up the entire year. After the news of the extension with Ceddanne Rafaela, it's very likely that he will be in the MLB from now on.


The Red Sox are off to a great start in 2024. They have been getting it done on all parts of the game. Off the field, they have been getting things done. They've been getting contract extensions done to keep their players around for the long run, and the latest extension is now Ceddanne Rafaela.
