Reds Add Bullpen Help, Signing Reliever to a Two-Year Contract

The Cincinnati Reds made their first move of their off-season. They signed relief pitcher, Emilio Pagán to a two-year, $16 million contract. This is a lot of help to their bullpen. The Reds bullpen in 2023 had one of the worst ERA's in all of baseball with a 4.83 ERA. They made it clear they wanted to adress the bullpen this off-season and they have already done some work on that with this move.

Emilio Pagán had one of his best seasons in 2023 with the Minnesota Twins. He earned himself a nice contract with the Reds. Pagán pitched in 66 games, he posted a 5-2 record. With that, Pagán had a 2.99 ERA, 65 SO, and a 0.95 WHIP. Emilio Pagán solidified himself as a good reliever.

This move will help the Reds get to where they want to be. That's the playoffs. The Reds are a super young team with a lot of talent. They added to that talent. By no means is this going to 100% fix their bullpen, but it's a step in the right direction. They need to keep adding on and their bullpen could be set with a few more moves.
