Reds in Agreement With Veteran Pitcher

The Cincinnati Reds agreed to a two-year, $26 million contract with pitcher Nick Martinez. The Reds just recently made an addition to their bullpen by adding Emilio Pagán, now they add another pitcher to their staff with Nick Martinez. Nick Martinez has been a solid pitcher the past few years with the Padres and this is certainly going to be a good addition by the Reds.

Nick Martinez can give the Reds two things. He gives the Reds an option for him to be a starting pitcher or a bullpen pitcher. Last year, Nick Martinez pitched in 63 games and 110.1 IP. Martinez posted a 6-4 record, 3.43 ERA, 106 SO, and a 1.26 WHIP. This was one of Martinez's best seasons.

The Cincinnati Reds have been pretty active in the early stages of the off-season. Adding Emilio Pagán and Nick Martinez aren't going to be the only two moves by the Reds. They're going to add more pieces and it's going to be fun to watch. The Reds already have some good young talent and they're just getting started this off-season.
