The Reds are calling up on of their top prospects in INF Matt McLain. This comes as to no surprise as the 23-year old is tearing up the minor leagues.
In Triple-A Louisville, McLain is slashing an impressive .348/.474/.710 with 12 home runs and 40 RBIs. As he gets ready to make his MLB debut, McLain is expected to be an everyday player on a Reds team that desperately needs any production they can get.
Many love the production he gives with the bat, but McLain's defense is severely getting overlooked. With Matt sliding into the Reds middle infield, expect their defensive stats to jump.
McLain was ranked 87th on the MLB Pipeline's top 100 prospects before the start of the 2022 season but not at the beginning of this season. It came as a surprise to many, but with this promotion to the big leagues, the sky is the limit for Matt McLain.
